Merry Christmas- it is non offensive, has meaning, and people appreciate it. Saying happy holidays is like...silly...what do you get...a "Holiday" tree? Do you have "holiday" dinner? I mean if someone is specific and says they are Jewish or something you can tell them "Oh..." but chances are...they celebrate Christmas!!! Because it is the BEST holiday EVER.

Merry Christmas because that is what I like to say and for no other reason. I don't get offended if someone wishes me Happy Holidays, or any kind of a Merry or Happy any thing so I say Merry christmas because that's what we said when I was growing up and nobody got offended

I go to a Catholic school and live in a mostly Christian neighborhood, so usually I say Merry Christmas. However, if I don't know the person, I say Happy Holidays, just in case. Although all the non-Christians I know never really care if you say Merry Christmas to them. I don't think people should get all offended; I mean, you're offering a hope that they will have a pleasent experience. If you say it "incorrectly", the same feeling is still behind it, and they should appreciate it anyway.

Merry Christmas, Because" happy holidays" is meant to take God and Christianity out of the true meaning of Christmas. We celebrate Christmas to remember the birth of Christ, this will never change for me

I can say either one. People think by saying "Happy Holidays" is being PC and accepting other religions and disallowing Christianity....but I don't believe that. Holiday is a Holy Day....and either way Christmas and this Holiday season is in honor of our Christian belief in the birth of Jesus Christ - a gift from God to all mankind. So my your Holy Days be Happy and may your Christmas be Merry!

I alternate. If I know someone celebrates Christmas, I say Merry Christmas. If I'm not sure, I say Happy Holidays.

When I want someone to have a merry christmas, I say that. When I'm talking about the holidays, I say happy holidays. It isn't all about Christmas, you know. There's Thanksgiving and New Years too!
