Yes and no.

Normally, basic elements of your personality will remain in place for your entire life. Events in your life can cause changes in your personality, but most people keep the basics.

In some cases, however, trauma or mental illness can create a total change in personality. Severe head injury, PTSD, schizophrenia and Alzheimer's are all examples of things that will completely change someone's personality. It is common for children of Alzheimer's patients to talk about how much mom or dad changed when they starting getting sick. It goes beyond behavior, to a complete change in the person.

There are also personality changes in those who have experienced a spiritual event, whether it's salvation, awakening or whatever term you prefer. They are changed by the experience, often completely different than they were before.

Of course it can... Science has found that even our diet can influence our thoughts and our actions. hypoglycemics can have periods of anger or may desire instant results from others working under them. If made aware of their condition, a good diet will help them and others!!! Diet has been traced to effect many mental disorders and some in treatment are given niacin and other B vitamins or multiples. Ask those who have friends with sugar problems and some will tell you they notice changes.. We see these changes in our children after eating many sweets. Some ADD and other problems are diet related and this is a proven fact in spite of some trying to sell the perscription drugs.

I don't think out basic personality changes at all-it's what we do to develop it that makes it better as a whole.

Costa and McCrae are well-known for their research on personality development. They argued that a person peaks in developing his/her personality by age 30. After that, his/her personality remains fairly stable. Other researchers/theorists argue that there are CERTAIN traits that can change (e.g. aggressiveness; assertiveness) and there are also other traits that remain the same throughout life (e.g. optimism). My personal opinion is that our personality can definitely be influenced by our environment as well as from our vast individual experiences. . .

I would tend to say no, but there are things that can happen that completely change a person...ie. a spiritual change, brain issues....cancer of the brain, other forms of brain damage etc.
