A lot of people may inquire about how to lose weight; however, I need to gain a few pounds and there is not enough information on how to do so. So, with that said, I am a very petite woman and I am tired of hearing "you don't eat" and "you need more meat on your bones." In fact, looking at my size, you may be surprised that I eat 3-4 times a day. But, can someone tell me what is the proper and healthy way to gain a few pounds so I won't look like I'm anorexic. Please give me serious responses.

If you are completely happy with your body and how you feel, then please do not allow anyone else's opinion to dictate your actions and behaviour.

However, if you think you need to gain some pounds, do so because you want to and do it in a healthy manner. You can start by adding muscle, doing light weights and building up...NOT bulking up. That aside, add healthy carbs and healthy fats to your diet such as nuts, fruit, spinach, bananas. Also try natural fibre and protein. Protein builds muscle too so an added incentive.

if you aren't anorexic then don't worry about it as long as you are healthy. People said that to me all the time and I could never gain weight and then all of a sudden I started putting weight on and now I need to lose so if you are a healthy size don't worry what others think. Cause people will criticize if there is nothing to criticize about

i totally know what you are going through. you can try to ignore it but i know that it is not that easy when every time you go somewhere someone somewhere will have some kind of comment. I am healthy and eat anything i want but it doesnt help any. it just seems like there should be a way to easily do this or at least something different than i have already tried.

muscle weighs more than fat so building muscle mass is one way.

Try some dietary supplements (like Ensure) in addition to your regular meals.

Generally high fat foods will add the pounds. There are healthy ones you can eat like adding extra virgin olive oil to salads or using whole milk or whole fat cheeses.

If you're over 21 beer helps pack on the pounds too.

This isn't really an answer, but I'd like to gain a few pounds myself. Just know you're not alone out there :)

My brother was a football player who was too lean. His coaches told him ice cream would put weight on him faster than anything else and that milkshake every night did the trick.

I wouldn't worry about what others thought about your weight. You do not sound like you have a eating disorder. Ignore their comments. Maybe they would like to look like you.
