It's a cultural problem, overall. It's known as a deep pessimism about the nature of humanity. I wonder how many people in different cultures other than "Western Society", are homosexual. Western culture, at present, is quite pessimistic, but there is hopeful change on the horizon. That means, that with a change in our economy back to science, technology, infrastructure development, bringing back nuclear energy to develop the Third World, people might be able to change their perspective, to think about what they can do in this life, that will have lasting meaning after they've gone. And, so, the disorder would be reduced considerably.
Why do I say "pessimistic"? Because, if you have no hope for the future, and no clear idea that mankind is different and superior to the animals, then.....why have children? If you believe that we're running out of resources, and can't create new ones....why have children?
I believe that anyone who claims that it is "genetic", is ignorant of the actual nature of mankind; and is playing with fire....if it were "normal", then how should the species procreate???!

How can heterosexuality be treated?
Is it a learned behavior? Is it neurological? Is it Psychiatric?
I believe it could be treated with cognitive therapy, positive Re-enforcement, group therapy, and in some cases medication.
Any thoughts on treating this disorder?

Homosexuality is not a disorder. While it is against the beliefs of many religious faiths, it is not found in medical or psychological diagnostic texts. Based on the context of your question, I think you should know that the DSM has been updated, and homosexuality was removed as a mental illness many years ago.
Beyond that, studies have found a difference in the chemical balance, structure and function between the brains of homosexuals and heterosexuals. While it is possible that cognitve-behavioral therapy and medication could cause someone to repress their homosexuality, it would not be a "cure." Treatment and cures imply disease and disorder, neither of which apply in this case.
In addition, no review board would approve of the use of humans in research for "curing" something that is not a disorder, making the question pointless.

This "Homosexuality" cannot be treated. Horomones circulate differently throughout the brain. Homosexuals are born this way.
It is supposed to be this way.
The best cure you could ever give them is love and acceptance.
If you want to understand this person, how about you read Maslov's Theory Of Heirarchy.
Trying to change/ control them or not accept them for their sexual preference is not alright. That's really ...not ok. I'm sure they already have a complex and they don't need you trying to "cure" thier "illness".

Alot wont like this one but here goes.
All people are not the same.
All gays are not the same.
What causes one person to live the gay lifestyle might be very different from the next guy.
There might be some guys around who are living the gay lifestyle yet hate it. They wish to be with a woman and live a heterosexual lifestyle. I am certain those men can be helped to overcome being gay.
Then there are others who are pretty much born this way. Hard wired...its who and what they really are. There is nothing in the world that can change that and no reason that anyone should try to.

Well, I support gay rights, but I'll just answer your question. The thing is, why ask if homosexuality and NOT heterosexuality can be treated? See, ppl think homosexuality is wrong, but we know very little about the history of both, so who are we to say what's right/ wrong? ( please don't bring up the whole 'God made Eve and Adam so therefore men are to be with women' thing)
well, anyway, it's both a psychological and biological thing. But here's an article with links to OTHER articles about whether it's nature or nurture :
http://www.plu.sg/main/index2.htm
>.< it has interesting info abt the origins of homophobia, too.

It is physcotic behavior. My best suggestion is hate crimes as therapy. Most homo. females have co-dependant issues going on and the males have phobias, that have never been adressed. I am a very opened minded person but do not, will not put up with a queer. If a guy is on a girl or a girl is on a guy what are they doing??? The guy has had no medical trtment or drugs the same with the girl! They might end up with a baby??? In this senereo...What are 2 queers doing????

What is there to treat? If it is alive and well in the animal kingdom, it must be normal. It is only a disorder in your mind and the rest of the right wingers. God, save me from your "holier than thou" idiots who THINK they are morally superior.
