It will let you trade population points for a quick production boost. Good for clearing out the mobs of unhappy citizens too.

What slavery does is that you sacrifice some of your city's population to hurry the production of a unit or building.
Example: U have 5 turns left to finish a swordsman. U sacrifice 2 population to crank him out.
This isn't that great in the early game, but may be good in the late parts.
However, by then, u have emancipation, which is better.
Researching Bronze Working unlocks slavery as a useable civic.
There are 5 civic categories: govt., labor, religion type, economic, legal.

Why is usa the only you regularly hear approximately while slavery is cited? The time between 1776 (the beginning up of the U.S.), and 1865 (the top of slavery contained in the U.S.) is purely 89 years. what number different international places had slavery for hundreds or hundreds of years? If George Bush's ancestors have been got here across to have owned slaves, and the Bush relatives is with regards to Barack Hussein Obama, does that imply that Obama is likewise in charge for slavery? purely who do you think of offered the African slaves to the Europeans first of all? It develop into different African tribes! devoid of African tribal wars, there could have been lots much less slaves on the industry contained in the slave commerce. (And slavery remains being practiced in Africa and different areas of the international.) ======================================
