I've visited all four, my opinions being :
UNH had the best campus
URI had the best pharmacy building
UMass was the most exciting
UConn was overwhelmingly big but friendly

Of all these, at an overall level, perhaps UMass has the best name. The others are certainly respectable schools as well though. I agree with the above person that you may want to visit these to get a feel for them. They are quite different. UMass is not as pretty as UConn. However, UMass is in a five-college area where you can take courses at the neighboring liberal arts colleges, which could be interesting academically and certainly socially. (The four colleges are Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith, and it is free to take classes at any of them.) UConn is much more rural, on the other hand. It is basically surrounded by farms.

I don't know a whole lot about UMass, UNH or URI, but I can tell you that UConn has a good pharmacy program and is a tough school. On the negative side, though, the class sizes are on the large size.

I honestly think the best way to decide is to take a visit to the campus. Be sure to go on a day when classes are in session. See if you can even go sit in on a class just to get a feel of what it would be like. Talk to the professors, too. That is very important. I honestly think that the professors are what really makes or breaks a college. I was very lucky and had excellent professors (I was in Psycholgoy and Elementary Education at Sacred Heart University in CT) and if wasn't for them, I don't think my college experience would have been nearly as good.

Good Luck! You'll know when you find the right college for you (trust me)! :)

These are all respectable schools. UMass is bigger, UConn is supposed to be a little tougher academically, UNH and URI are smaller and more rural. There isn't really much to choose between them, though. They are all pretty similar.
There is an important distinction between the pharmacy schools at UConn and URI, though. UConn you have to take courses for two years and then apply. URI you apply to the Pharmacy college when you apply to the university and they save your seat - if you don't mess up, then you are automatically admitted to pharmacy after two years. I heard that last year URI has 1000 applicants for 90 seats. So, you need to be good. Hardly anyone gets admitted who didnt apply to the pharmacy program from day one.
ps URI has had a pharmacyu program for many years, they are just building a new lab building, not starting the school.

Umass Amherst is a great school, it's very funky and artsy and it's really underrated as a public school. URI has a GREAT biology program and they are looking to build a pharmacy school soon (but I don't know if it would be built by the time you would attend.) I don't know too much about UNH or Uconn, though. Try www.princetonreview.com I'm transferring schools next fall and I refer to my profile on that site all the time. Good luck!

Greg - Hello Congrats on senior year. Takes me back. Which school is better 4 U depends on what U want and can U afford 2 do it. Whats Ur career goal & what sort of place do U want 2 attend. There are college and career guides that can help you. Its not just about which school is the best. Yahoo has groups that address career and school concerns. For egg sample my 1st college was commuting distance from parents so my frosh year was classes and work part time near by. It was probably the smallest University in MA but was fine. Then my idea was go some place bigger w/ more diversity. Social life was better but it was stressful.

Have you visited the campuses? Usually when you visit the campuses you can just get the feeling about which one feels better. If you want to be a pharmacist, the job is in such demand now that it doesn't really matter where you go.
