Saddam? Executed?

I don't believe that he should be executed and before you begin to hate me for that, please read on... Why should he get off that easy?? Its easy to be dead but how much harder for him would it be to be made to work off his debt.. he couldn't work hard enough, but at least he will have to work. maybe in a concentration camp.. the camp of one.... he won't get a phone, computer, tv, or any of the things that a common criminal would have. he should be made to see all the people he has killed.. pictures, and for every single life he has taken, a year in a torturous camp will be added to his sentance. I don't know.. I just think killing him would be too easy. What do you think?

Whether he will be executed or not remains to be seen. Personally, the sooner he is gone, the better; however, his death will exacerbate the Sunnis to more horrific murders of their own Iraqi brothers and sisters. Whatever the Iraqis do to him will be slight compared to what God will decide in the final judgment. It is impossible for mere men to know whether he will repent to God before death. God, in his perfect wisdom, will be the final arbiter of this man's life. As heinous as he has been, I pray for his soul and for the souls of all of the enemies of God that they may repent of their sins and become aware children of God. This is an opportunity all of us have and I hope we all have the opportunity - before our final journey - to atone for our sins and receive God's benevolent mercy. Amen.

You make many excellent points, but they are all coming from a Western point of view. In Saddam's part of the world and in his culture, being executed is a disgrace and a shame, and from his point of view is the worst that could happen to him. His death will give a sense of finality to the torture and pain he inflicted on the Iraqi people for so many years, so I think from a psychological perspective Saddam's execution will be healing for the country. Remember that that part of the world sees things much differently than most Western people, so we have to put ourselves in their position, even though sometimes it's hard.

BTW, he is getting hanged...that is pretty torturous and all of the Shiites that hate him will get to watch him die a very long and painful death...although u do bring up a very good point.
