If I got the message several times and it sounded legitimate, I think I would call the number that they leave and explain that I am not the person they are trying to reach.

Tell the phone company/police that you are receiving "threatening" phone calls. Is the person leaving their number in the message? On caller ID? Do a reverse phone look up to see if it is legitimate. I just had my number changed after six years and it was hard, but I called everyone and gave it to them.

Call them back and tell them they have the wrong number. Listen to the menu at the end of the message. There are options for call information and you can get the number from that.

MY maiden name is a rather distinct Polish name, and it was listed in the public directory. So, this joker, to whom I'm somehow embarrassingly related with that same last name, who owes a ton of money is the reason why I got call after call after call. So, finally I told the collections company that I was going to sue them for harrassment if they didn't cease and desist!
They told me that they had to keep attempting to make contact, and I told them to get a better freaking phone number!
Sorry you're going through this, because this is eating up your phone time. Can't you block the number? I would tell them that you plan to sue them for harrassment AND the money you have to spend to get back those minutes you have to keep wasting on answering their calls. Just make sure you keep track of all that on paper - Good luck!

Change the number so the calls stop. It's probably a wrong number.

i think of it relies upon on the situation and the message left. Odds are if it wasn't too offensive, after it gradual as passes you will maximum possibly hear from them. specific, I get excitement from leaving all and sundry {kin, pals, straight away laced of no longer} drunken, strange, and/or traumatic messages via way of voice mail, email or textual content. in the event that they deny receiving it, basically save leaving the message or resend it, lower back and lower back. beside the point jokes are relaxing to try this with besides.
