Basically 5 years would get you either right before or right after California Adventure opened up. That in itself may be new to you, even if you were there when it first opened it has changed a bit since then.

In Disneyland itself they have added and fixed up quite a few things. They did a lot of fixing up for the 50th aniversary about a year ago. Of the Major stuff the biggest of that is the total remodel of Space Mountain and Tiki Room. There is also Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.

To keep it cheep is not easy, but it can be done. Just going through Disneyland can keep teenagers busy for quite a while. They will stop you from bringing in an entire picnic but should have no problem with the small snacks or water. For meals go into Downtown Disney or along Harbor Blvd where you get the usual chain resturants.

Also, think about purchasing Gift Cards rather than keeping Cash on Hand. These are accepted at just about everyplace in Disneyland except some of the Outdoor Vending carts, but having these could help control spur of the moment spending knowing that once the card is empty they are out of money.
If you already have not booked your hotel, look at booking through Disney or AAA, they often have special offers and discounts that you can not get otherwise.

Go to Disneyland.com. You can actually look up stuff to do there based on ages and whatnot. They have all the attractions and shows listed at the site also. They'll also inform you of what attractions will be closed.

I worked in the park from 2000 till 2004 (Stores/Merch.)...it's changed a bit from 2000 till now, but not TOO much.

And I have a 14 year old stepdaughter who loves to go to the park with us. We actually have tons of fun and there is SO much for even a teenage girl to do (besides shopping! haha). Disneyland is the place to unleash your inner child and to forget about saying things like "omg, that is like SO uncool to run around with mouse ears on Small World"...haha...it's THE place to just be silly and feel like a kid again.
They'll probably love Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean (with newly added Jack Sparrow animatronics), etc...and then if you make it over to California Adventure, there's Tower of Terror, California Screamin, Soarin Over California, etc.

To help keep the cost as low as possible (I KNOW how expensive it can get!), you can pack lunches or snacks...or visit a restraunt outside the park (we often go to the McDonald's across the street).

By the way, February is a great time to visit the park...practically no crowds! The weather is cool and usually a bit rainy, but there's way less crowds since it's the "off season" and it's really very nice.

Hope this helps...Have fun!

Get park-hopper passes so you can do both Disneyland and California Adventure...make sure to ride the biggies: Space Mountain (it was redone last year), Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain, the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean (also redone...they've added Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa and Davey Jones from the Pirates movies). I also like to do Peter Pan at least once and the Jungle Cruise, too. At California Adventure, do Tower of Terror, California Screamin', Soarin' Over California. Take a look at Turtle Talk with Crush and Aladdin the Musical if you're able to...it's worth it (and costs nothing extra). Make sure to check out the Disney Gallery at Disneyland as well. We go 2-3 times a year and never tire of it! There's always something new to discover. Also, look for hidden mickeys throughout the parks (shapes in the form of mickey heads...we have a blast trying to find them). As far as keeping it cheap...you're going to Disneyland...expect to spend some money....or save up until you can go and not worry about "keeping it cheap"....unless you plan on staying and eating outside of the parks. But to get the full Disney experience, I'd recommend one of the Disneyland Hotels...we stay at the Grand Californian...but the Paradise Pier is their most affordable and it's nice, too! Have fun!!!

The park has changed a lot. It is fabulous, but expensive. We cut costs by buying bottled water and food outside the park as much as possible. Buy a park hopper ticket so you see both parks. They are next to each other. California adventure has Soaring over California, Big Bear Rapids and California screaming & Tower of Terror, just to name a few. Disneyland has the Pirates of the Caribbean, and Space Mountain both redone. Other than that, it is basicly the same. Get the fast pass wherever possible at no additional cost. It helps cut down on the wait time. I hope this is helpful. Have a great time!

I live near disneyland and the first thing I can tell you is to get to the park early so as to avoid traffic. Secondly is to eat at mcdonalds, in-n-out or carls jr before you enter the park. Get plenty of fast passes. Be sure you ride the popular rides early. Such as the new space mountain, indiana jones, and the matterhorn

Well I haven't been there since like 96 so it's changed a lot. Try an old classic the Matter Horn or the new one Indiana Jones, another fun classic is the Pirates of the Caribean, or the Haunted Mansion, also the Country Bears Jamborie is cool they based the movie off of that one, or try splash mountain, the go carts are fun too, space mountain, adventure land, anything u like. Warning tho some of them rides dump you right into the gift shop at the end of the ride.

SHE"S TALKING ABOUT DISNEYLAND not disneyworld people!!!! ANAHEIM not FLORIDA

well if you want you can leave the park during lunch time go to Dowtown disney...they don't have sky high food prices!!
Space mountain is a must! go get a Fast pass for certain rides!! basically you scan your entry ticket and it gives you a pass to come back at a certain time and you'll only be waiting about half the time or less to get on the ride. Buzz Light years astro blasters is fun....you shoot your laser at items and i know a lot of my frined who bought their picture afterwards.

The sad thing is though you won't be able to go on the Haunted Mansion. it'll be closed to put back to the original Haunted Mansion set up due to the Holiday change of Nightmare Before Christmas!!

Hope you have fun, hope that helps

I just returned two weeks ago. The girls should like EPCOT. Although the reviews of Universal were less than favorable.

Take the Girls on "SOARIN" at EPCOT. Best ride of all the parks.

Avoid the souvenir shops. If you must have something with Disney, the Super Wal-mart has souvenirs for half the price.

Have a great trip!
