First of all the answer to your question you simply cannot tell what the summer will be like right now. This idea that global warming is causing small scale weather patterns is simply outrageous and needs to stop.. This years abnormally warm temps are due to a primarily zonal wind pattern that has kept artic air masses bottled up at the north pole. May I remind you that as of today (jan 2nd) there is no significant signs that an el nino is occuring..The process that most people are referring to is is the greenhouse effect. Shortwave radiation from the sun is absorbed by the earth and re-emitted as longwave radiation on the order of about 9 microns. This outgoing radiation is NOT "TRAPPED" nor "reflected" by greenhouse gases such as C02, methane, water vapor, etc. It is absorbed and re-emitted by these gases. Similar to what happens in a greenhouse, hence the name.

Summer will be warmer than the spring. Although a cooling trend is predicted in the fall.

I read that global warming killed all of the 2006 Atlantic hurricanes. Then again, the same folks blamed the 2005 hurricanes on global warming.

Do you know what "global warming" is?

Assuming if (and that's a big if) global warming is actually happening...it's really, really slow...about 1 degree (F) per 100 years.

so again assuming IF (see above) global warming is actually happening, I would have to say about 1/100 of a degree (F) higher than average for the last 100 years. (not a big change)...

oh I forgot to mention that the statistical variance of temp. is around 15-20 degrees (so for the assumed global warming to actually cause a statistical anomaly it would take 1500-2000 years before we can state that global warming MIGHT be happening... that's the facts... the facts that the political parties don't want you to know about... read the fine print in the papers submitted for publication. It's mostly hand waving black magic set up to get more funding to do more research. I'm not saying that's its definately not true, but make sure you have context.

Global Warming doesn't exist.

Actually...that was a joke but global warming really is a natural process and a group of weather cycles. You can typically base your regions summer on the previous winter, if you have a horrible nasty cold winter then you're probably going to have an unusually warm summer and vice versa.

I think we are in for more weather extremes just as it has been over the last few years, with weather events coming in clusters like the windstorms off the west coast and the deadly hurricanes that arrives so close to Katrina. this means that for the overall year things look ok, but the clusters make it seem more severe.

Bugger i think its only getting hotter...
