They don't ignore major issues but they can't exactly report everything. They are a local newspaper too so they have to give decent space to "minor" events that happen in New York. I read the Cleveland Plain Dealer and it seems to cover national events just as well as the NY Times. Just because the paper isn't over reporting like Fox News and CNN doesn't mean it is ignoring major issues.
