The general rule is one inch of fish per gallon of tank. So if you have a 1 gallon tank, one one-inch fish.. if you get a two gallon tank, you can get two one-inch fish or one two-inch fish and so on.
betta fish do great in small tanks, but you can only get one. Also fanct gold fish are cute, fun, and VERY easy to take care of. Just make sure to get a species of fancy gold fish that do not get too big
If you have a heater and filter you have more options because most of the pretty and cool fish are tropical, they require much more work like heaters, filters, and frequent water tests.
If you do get a tropical fish, get a small pleco (theyre algae eaters), since they grow really slow and by the time you need to get a new tank, you'll probably be moved out of your small place. They also keep your tank spotless by eating all the green stuff (algae)
You can also try some danios or neons. They are both small and very hearty fish. They also require heat and all the other stuff that tropical fish do, but theyre small so you can have a few of them in a small tank. They are schooling fish though, so you NEED atleast 3 of them otherwise they will die.
I would not get any other fish because they are pretty fragile, or will grow too big for your tank
another option for your tank, instead of fish is to get a hermit crab. Theyre fun, and dont require too much room, or work.

You won't be able to fit two of any fish in a 1.5 or even a 2 gallon tank.
Can you go to a 5-6 gallon? Even an 8 gallon is pretty small, like 16 x 12 x 8 inches.
If you have a 2 gallon tank, you're limited to ONE betta OR ONE killifish (not a golden wonder - something smaller) OR one african dwarf frog OR some cherry red snails.
If you can upgrade for a 5-6 gallon, you could get TWO female bettas, a couple killifish, 2-3 scarlet badis, ONE betta and a dwarf frog, 2-3 white cloud minnows.
Tetras and corydoras are not suitable because they are schoolers and need lots of swimming room.

stick with a 1.5 inch and get an oscar
because fish will tend to grow as th tank allows them to grow
and buy him a couple buddy fish (like goldfish they love them)
but keep the extra friends in a different bowl or something until the time for a new friend is needed =P

technically you should only have 1 fish per gallon of water. 1.5 gallon tank = 1 fish. If your space is limited you could go with black mollies, tiger barbs, guppies..... I would stay with the smaller scaled fish so they don't outgrow your tank since your space is limited.

somewhat freshly caught fish will continuously trump the rest. And if that fish is a salmon trout, it's going to trump the different clean fish. And once you're fortunate sufficient to have the main as much as date of unpolluted salmon trout, all it desires elementary grilling or frying. however - failing that, there's a thoroughly incredible recipe in a e book (spoke of as in basic terms "Fish") via Sophie Grigson and her substantial different William Black, for smoked cod. The identify of the recipe on my own is sufficient to make one fall in love with it - "Feroce de Morue Fume", ferocious smoked cod - however the recipe itself is divine. It includes rubbing the fish with garlic and chilli flakes, then marinading it in olive oil and lime juice for 8+ hours. on an identical time as you wait, concoct the sauce, which incorporates diced cucumber, an avocado, lime juice, garlic, Greek yoghurt, diced tomatoes and a finely-chopped shallot. on the appointed time, grill your fish on the two area and serve with the cool sauce. suited recipe provided on request!

just go with neon tetras. these are cute extremely small fish who dont ever grow and dont need much room, providing there is a filter to give it clean water.
