Okay here is the deal...I know how women like to be obedient and submissive but a buddy of mine was telling me if your fiance or wife calls you master or lord all the time it cheapens the name and it doesn't mean as much. He says she should only call her husband that if she is being disciplined for doing something bad or if she wants to ask his permission to do something. Otherwise, the husband and wife should be on a first name basis. Do you guys agree? How do you guys handle this in your relationships?

Folks, I don't think he's from U.S or any 1st world country. There are women in some countries who are expected to be obedient. But I don't know any country, where women really call their husbands master, lord or even sir. Unless the husband is a real King or a Lord. If so , some country, culture and politics expect the person to be addressed as he's addressed in public. It is not to disrespect or disregard women. It's just the person is always referred by his public address because of the royalty status.

I don't think that a woman should ever HAVE TO call her husband anything but his own first name.
Now, if she wants to do it as some kind of kinky-fun thing, go for it. If she does it to joke around, go for it. If you call each other Mr. and Mrs Last name (as some couples do when they're in public or not having a private moment), that's fine too.
Even if she wants to do it because she LIKES being submissive, that's great.
But a woman should never, ever be made to use such a demeaning way of speaking to her husband, or any other man that she's familiar and friendly with.

Mister you have not met me, which is probably a good thing for you. I never call a man master or lord, and my old man does not discipline me. No woman should ask for permission for anything she is an adult not a three year old asking for a cookie. And as for women being obedient and submissive, you need your leash tightened.

Master, lord and sir should only be used for the wife who was given a minimum of a million dollars up front to tolerate a pompous *** with the guarantee of an additional million at the time of the divorce via the prenup.

I'll tell you how I handle it. I don't call my husband any of those names and I never will! I only have one Lord and that's God. Ultimately my husband is the spiritual leader of our family and has to make all the big decisions, but not without first consulting with God, and his wife to make sure it is the right decision. Any man who does not respect his wife most likely will not have one for very long! I hope this helps. God Bless!

OK, first. Women are grown and they shouldn't be disciplined by anyone but their fathers. When you get married, you're committed to love each other, not obey one another. Second, women shouldn't have to call ANYONE lord or master. It sounds really retarded walking up to a guy and saying "I love you, master." and I couldn't imagine doing that with my husband. Third. Women have the right to go out and party without anyone's permission. I DO call my husband by first name, John and he calls me by first name, Leonna. I disagree with your stupid friend.

First of all I call NO MAN , master or lord, the only ones I call that is Jesus, our Lord and Master. I do call men that I don't know sir, but that is only being polite, as I don't know their given name, or in the military, then it is sir.
It sounds to me like he is being very dominant over her, if she is required to do this, if not, then she is a dumb ***** for doing it.
