I have the same thing! After my many, many epidurals (I think it was five with my last baby-I tried to block it out), I have this tingling, numb feeling on the upper left side of my back. It isn't there all the time. It's the strangest thing.

I had an epidural and 2 spinal blocks...the epidural worked for about 5 contractions, and then wore off. They tried putting more into the epidural, but it didn't work at all. So they decided to do a spinal, and they messed up the first time and had to re-do it and that worked. I've been having horrible back pains where they tried to put the first in, and it's still a little numb. If you are getting a numb sensation 2 years after, I'm sure it probably has something to do with it. I'd check with your doctor to see if they know.

Good luck!

I was told that that was a pretty common "side effect " of having an epidural or a spinal block (to correct you- a spinal tap is MUCH MUCH more painful- and not involved with childbirth). Because these forms of anesthesis invovle numbing nerves by basically inserting a needle into them and administering the meds, there's a pretty high likelyhood that scar tissue will form and compress the nerves going to a place that initially had nothing to do with it. It's a good idea to tell your Dr, but he or she may tell you that "it's your body's reaction to the anesthesia".

You should go on line on a medical page and check side effects on Epidural injection the Pro and Cons on getting them. I had a diffrent problem I felt my left leg was going to explode when I got mine I later found out that my spine is not straight and its a bit tilted possible due to a accident ?? Your issue could be related to many things but you should get medical attention, you yourself know your body more and you should alway get medical attention when you feel something is not right. My suggestion when you feel the numbness go to the ER and get a MRI of your lumbar spine. Good Luck!

Some ppl will always experience back pain after an epidural. I still get pain sometimes. It sounds normal to me but if it is bothering more than u feel it should make an appt.

You should definately ask your doc about this. It could be some nerve damage from the needle.

My sis went through 6 months of rehab for something similar. I think you should be checked, hopefully it won't be too late to fix it if there is damage.
