AND WHY?
I need to find one that's not so challenging but not a waste of money and not so scary. It's for my friend's daughter, who is 6.

I have played them all and I like Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon. It has the Hardy Boys in it and is quite challenging. The latest one, Creature of Kapu Cave lets you switch back and forth between Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, so you play all 3 characters, it is also really good.

I have played and completed all of the Nancy Drew games.
Some are better than others, but all the games are wonderful in my opinion. If I could only choose 2 to play I would have to go with:
Mystery in the Haunted Mansion
Blackwood Hall
