The D'Backs should try to get Johnson. He'd be better in Arizona than in New York.

maybe so but the Giants are spending even more to keep a dismal Barry Bonds. On top of that Johnson had his best years as a D-back, why wouldn't he want to return to the place that gave him his only world series ring? Lastly, Zito is a raffle prize at this point it seems more feasable to go after a guy you have a better chance at getting than a guy that many other teams are gunning for.

It's not what the Yankees are asking, it's the current value of RJ's contract. Zito doesn't want a one year deal, he wants 6, and like the Yankees, many teams are steering clear of that, at this time.
Johnson would bring stability to a young bullpen and rotation which is what many feel that the D'backs are lacking. Plus, with a big marquee name like Johnson, future Hall of Famer, it will put fannies in the seats, and the name of the game, is more than just baseball... it's economics

I don't beleive it's comlpetely stupid, but I dson't think they should give up a lot to get him. Consider that they are taking in an aging pitcher with recent injury problems and a huge salary. They upside is that Johnson may be more effective for Arizona than he has been with the Yankees. He would be back in the National League and closer to home, which may help him.

No. Quite honestly the NL is so weak talent wise compared to the AL (especially the AL bEast), that the Unit will prolly win 15-18 games for the D'backs with an ERA of about 4.00.
Sad to say , but the NL has slid to just a tad above the AAA level.
Besides, Johnson is just too damn ugly for us here on the East Coast ;-)

As a Yankee fan, is great, because my team will rid of an incompetent pitcher with a 5.00 ERA.
As a D-Back fan, is the same feeling i got when Pettitte signed, i know he sucks, but maybe in our hose, as a prodigal son returned, he shines again.
and in the NL, a crappy pitcher for the AL can become a force.

Yes, I do think it is a stupid move on Arizona's part to take a useless old man into their rotation. Let the Yanks keep him and pay for that miserable salary. Keep the young prospects in Arizona's system.

Yeah, the Yankees are asking for too much for a player with a ridiculous salary and a player out of his prime. Its not worth it since the D-Backs have some soild starting pitching in the minors.

Yes they are!! However, he was successful with them before and may fill the seats. The Rockies surely could use some people at their games.!!

No, I personally don't. I would estimate his ERA to be around 4 in the NL, in an inferior league. Not only that, he would really fill the seats up.
