We are trying to use a biometric finger print reader for noting employee times, hence the reason to make the PC clock not changeable.

OK, I worked for 4 years with a time and attendance /front end data collection comapny.

So

you have a few options here.

You are likely using an ATI timeclock (based upon finger recongnition)

So
what I can tell from your post is that:

Your clock is serial connected to a PC and gets all of it's uploadn and download infor form one PC (Which the user can change the time on)

Your best bet is to use TCP/IP on that clock ad syncrnize that clock with SERVER that no user has access to.

Your other option is to set the workstation that the clock gets it's info from to synchronize its time with a reliable SERVER and then restrict access on that PC so the user cannot change the time (you can accomplish this in many ways)

Post a little more info about your environment and I will be happy to help you.

If you are using Windows XP Professional...

1. Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Local Security Policy
User Rights Assignment
Change System Time

Make sure that users logging on are not part of the Local Administrators group and make sure they are not part of any group that can chnage the system time under that system's local policy.

Use administrator settings. Additionally, you can get an atomic clock download that basically gives you the time directly onto your computer, compensating for time zone and DST. because it is the atomic clock, it would be unchangeable.

"Jay7" has it right. Just right click over the clock and a mini-window will show up. Under the Taskbar tab, just uncheck the box that says "Show the clock". That'll get rid of it.

Hover your mouse arrow over the the time. Right click. Click on "Properties." Uncheck, "Show clock." There ya go. No clock. What do you mean by not changeable?
