Im thinking about download limewire. But from what i know of, if you download music or movies you dont have the copyright to, it is illegal. But the thing is, accually getting caught with it. From what i found out, the only people the record companies are getting are the people sharing thousands of the files in their librarys.

So what i am asking is, if i set it up so the folder to share is different than the save folder and there is nothing in the share folder, will i still get caught? becuase it would show i have 0 files. so how they even know ive ever downloaded anything?

thanks

I said: im thinking about downloading it. NOT i am, or i have it.
why would i ask this if i have it?

The record companies can get the information on what you downloaded from your internet service provider so changing the folder will do nothing. Downloading from programs such as limewire is always a risk but are you willing to take that risk? I saw an interesting article online a while ago that said to just buy a wireless router and don't turn on wireless security and claims someone from outside your house downloaded those songs. I think someone used that in a case and it worked..

i have lots and i mean lots of files and nothing has happened to me, do you know how many people use limewire? millions so i think your safe. it's pretty safe, just don't download zip files or huge files. iv'e never had a problem except you security system might think it's a pest. have no fear go ahead. also i do see your point to getting music but people will say oh thats illegal but i don't know i can't see getting 600$ worth of music a week if i like the cd's or when all i want is one bloody damn song.!

You could do that, but most Limewire members won't allow you to download if you aren't sharing. You are classed as a freeloader. Limewire never charges for the service. They will, however, charge for software if you download Limewire Pro.

Limewire charged me for the service and said it was legal. that was about a year ago. do not DL it now because it has almost nothing on it to DL. maybe some music but most everything else has been knocked off from it's P2P.

ok dont worry bout that. worry bout getting viruses from all those programs. if u have firewall thats great. but u should just buy the cd or go to websites and get them. no need for p2p programs
