Turn your head to one side and gently pull the earlobe until you feel the water drain.
If you can feel water still in there it may be trapped behind impacted ear wax. The doctor can Flush out impacted wax with a warm water ear flush bulb or syringe.
Use a drop of Olive oil at night to loosen any ear wax before getting it flushed out.
Use aqua ear you can buy at the pharmacy. Its a drop solution of glycerine and metholated spirit. This will dry out the ear canal. But dont use it if you think you have an infection beginning. Its normal to feel a warm sensation.
Dont bother with ear plugs as they dont work and can cause a perforated eardrum if you are diving wearing them.

Check with your doctor that you do not have Osteo Blastosis. This is a condition that surfers and regular male swimmers can develope where the inside of the ear canal gradually closes off as abnormal bone growth (similar to minature coral) is stimulated. The condition takes years to become a real problem. Is usually a male problem and is linked to water temperature change and exposure for long periods in the surf or long swim training sessions.

Well, if you don't have swimmer's ear quite yet, then use the Swimmer's Choice ear drop, after using a tissue to hand dry out you ears. But if you already have swimmer's ear, i.e., noticable pain to the touch or pain otherwise, go to the doctor and get a prescription for some antibiotic drops, which will take care of your problem in about 2-3 days and get you in the pool, but you must continue the drops for a week at least. Don't stop when the pain goes away, because it will come back. (I know this from experiance)

THe best way to cure it is to get a prescription from the doctor, for an ear infection (include that its from swimming). THis should clear it up in about a day or 2. Rubbing Alchol also works.
