As DELL website list up the possible upgrades, they have ATA5 hard drives. As I search newegg.com, I found Hitachi's 7200 rpm ATA6 hard drive attractive. Will it be okay?

Try to get a SATA. Ohhh, Laptops, i really wouldn't recommend changing something on a laptop. On a PC yes, but not on a laptop. Now, SATA is in!
