The flagship university of your state's university system is always a good bet (UNC-CH, UCLA, Penn State, UVirginia, etc.) for those who want a career in education. They often have programs with state/local school systems.

A number of all-female schools are good too (if you're female, obviously) although this might not be the kind of environment you'd like.

When it really comes down to it, go to any school with at least a decent overall reputation and doesn't cost too much (i.e. an education degree from Yale isn't all that much better than one from UConnecticut but will cost you so much more).

There is no point in going to any fancy private school if you want to be an elementary school teacher. They are not directed toward that career and do not have all the courses you would need anyway. Pick out a good public college in your state. If you want to have a special part to your education,s tudy a second language that will help you with your students (probably Spanish) and then spend a semester abroad in Mexico or Spain.
My mom was a 3rd grade teacher for 40 years and loved every minute of it.

I may be a little biased but Bowling Green State University in Ohio is a good teaching school. I was a business major but had A LOT of friends that were education majors and they are doing well in their careers. The university started as a teachers college.

Depends on where you live. Every state has it's school that is great for law students, a school that's great for future doctors, and a school for education majors. Check the Internet or ask around, like your counselor (that's their job) or teachers in your area.
