Yes especially if you are in a conservative society. Take for instance gay Muslims or even Jews in the Middle East. Being homosexual is punishable by death in some Arab states. In Israel, they once held a gay pride march which ended with one being stabbed by an Orthodox Jew. The last Jewish gay pride was held in an enclosed stadium for fear of violent protests from all religious sectors (Jews, Muslims and Christians). Even in some open societies, being gay or bi is still a problem. It really depends on the country and culture. In Europe, gay/bi/lesbians are more accepted and tolerated especially in Scandinavian countries like Netherlands.

Well, if there are bigots near by they may approach us and tell us off. As if yelling at us would suddenly get rid of all the gay people in the world. And even if there aren't any of those people around, it may still feel uncomfortable or scary because a lot of people want to stay in the closet.

Depends on where you are in life, and where you are geographically. My college is pretty small, and the police response time is pretty good. Generally, I feel safe there. It's a little bit...weird at first. People will stare. A few will give very, very dirty looks. But eventually you learn to ignore them, to not let them hurt you with dirty looks. That said, when I'm back home, there are definitely streets where I wouldn't hold hands with a boy.

i live in Spain, in a big city and in here there is no problem at all...In here we are a step further from acceptance...there is nothing to accept we just are and that is all...but there are other places where it is a bit more difficult but with the new law that enables us gays to get married little by little people will get used and we will overcome this acceptance thing...

Not for me, personally. But I've been with females that had a hard time with it. Big reason why we are not together anymore.

Yes. There are always the people who will not understand and use violence to react to you. You are open to all, but that one person spoils it all
