The emotional act may very well be the rational desicion. Logical desicions are not always the correct ones and all that jazz. Yes it is possible to be both emotional and logical although only to an extent. In my mind i almost see the two at opposite ends of a scale, because the more emotional you are the more difficult it becomes to be logical. I disagree with a purely logical state of mind, it does have its uses to turn off the emotions for certain desicions, but emotion needs to be there to make a desicion that will ultimately end in your happiness. Yeah, throw in some philisophical happiness stuff and this should be an appropritately vauge answer.

I hope you enjoyed my sense of humour and understand what i was trying to describe in that haphazard bundle of words.

I'm not sure if you can choose to act emotionally.
Conversely you can not always choose not to react emotionally.
I'm sure you have had the experience where you could not stop yourself from laughing or crying for that matter.
So yes you can be both emotional and logical.
It is the practice of logic that helps us control our emotions when they do not work in our favor.
Such as controlling our fear, anger, lust, etc.
Our negative emotions prompt us to do or say things in an aggressive, selfish or unkind manner.
But who would want t to live a life governed solely by logic.
Our positive emotions are the greatest energy force we possess.
When we operate from a baseline of a love of all things we are able to experience joy to the fullest.
If we operate from a positive/calm and positive/assertive mindset we achieve a good deal and get to experience every ounce of joy each day has to offer.
I think, you would have to ask a shrink to be sure, that a person devoid of emotion is considered catatonic (if they are non-responsive) or a budding sociopath (as they do not exhibit normal emotional responses in relation to particular stimuli).
I feel like I'm talking in circles so I will leave you to it.

Yes, it is possible to be emotional and logical. There is logic in emotional intelligence. The ability to choose is proof of neither emotion or logic.

I can only tell you that the ability to choose is not proof of logic. It is proof of discipline. A disciplined mind can choose a path contrary to the one dictated by desire, however that doesn't mean that it is the logical path.

To choose the logical path one must have forethought and knowledge to know what path to choose and must also have the discipline to commit to that path as long as it remains to the logically correct path.

Choosing to act emotionally isn't necessarily a logical choice and making choices is not proof of logic. People make illogical, irrational choices all the time!

You can act with emotion and not be out of control of yourself. So yes it is possible to be both emotional and logical.

Maybe a better question is it possible to be hysterical and logical at the same time. But yet again that answer seems obvious too.

we are a three fold being, made up of soul, body & spirit. first our soul, made up of mind, will & emotions. we have the choice, the will to chose. we can choose logicaly in any given situation some people do prodomenently but are pretty boring on a social scale. we have the will to choose emotionaly which is a pretty negative way to live your life as we rely on outside factors to chose our actions & reactions for us. but we are made like this so use all to the best of your ability to help those around you and you wont go far wrong in live. we know good from bad, chose good and use all that you have inside for the benefit of yourself & others around you.

I think it is, human beings are proof of this, especially small toddlers, who usually know what is logically right or efficient or best, but choose to act emotionally

yes and it all depends on the situation they find themselves in and the other people who are involved in it as well and how big a role they play in it. as for being emotional and logical i don't see why not. i think its possible to say cry and be upset for instance but also contemplate and evaluate one's actions that led to that situation occuring in the first place and why it did occur

Yes, one can choose to go with ones emotions, or to make a rational decision. For example, I sometimes want to hug and kiss my husband in public, but I know it embarasses him, so I usually refrain. Occasionally, though, I make the choice to go with my emotions and grab him, but it's usually a rational choice - I decide rationally if, under the circumstances, I can get away with it.

To act emotionally is a decision or a habit. Either way it is a chosen course of action.
