You'll probably have to pay fees to get it cashed; you should check this out with your bank. It probably won't be worth it. Avoid Western Union as it means giving your bank details to a stranger; not a good idea nowadays.
Ask your buyer to use pay-pal, nochexs or something similar. The other possibility is for them to send an international money order but they will have charges to pay at their end.

I;m pretty sure the post office will cash them commission free. But a UK Sterling postal order should be able to be purchased in the states.

It's more annoying and difficult than using PayPal. Ask for a UK postal order.

Postal service over there should cash it. If not, best bet is to ask the postal service where to go.

Honestly no, the commission charge that you will cough up to get it cashed and the hassle of getting it cashed will far outweigh the benefits unless it's a lot of money and even then that will be a lot of % to lose.

It is better to get them to pay in sterling, but if they insist on sending you some other method of payment, try this website.

Probably not, whoever cashes it for you will require commission. Ask your bank how much they would charge if you paid it in.

Electronic transfer of the money would probably be better.
