I was out side today, it seem that all the kids in the neighborhood got airsoft guns for christmas. An airsoft gun is basiclly a gun that shoots colored BB's they are probably twice the size of a BB and are made of plastic. I am worried I live in a four family complex, where we all share a drive way. When I walked out there today the kids and parents were out there playing with the guns on the drive way. I don't want my car to get shot. I also don't want my dogs to get shot. I know that they are safer then real guns or
BB guns, but i know that they still hurt when you are hit. One of the kids was shot just below the eye he had a good size welt.
I own a rott. I wouldn't blame her if she went off on a kid that shot her. But still she is my responsibility. I don't want our vehicles to be hit... what do I do...
Another consern is gun saftey. are these parents teaching their kids that it is ok to play with guns? These kids are young. One was about two years old. I am concerned. help..

I think I need to explain a little more... the two year old was just playing with the gun. no one was shooting at the kid and the kid wasn't shooting at anyone else. as for the gun's leaving marks on a vehicle. well i watched a kid put a good dent in the siding of a house yesterday. So yes it will put a dent in my car. And if i don't see them shoot the gun how do i sew someone for damaging my property? And my rott, she is a dog and yes it will hurt her. besides that she doesn't know what it is, so what is she supposed to do... I have told all the kids to stay away from my dogs and vehicles when they are playing with the guns but they are kids they don't always listen.

~~~First let me say, I agree with Schmoopie, this way if the police stops by, he can suggest a safer place for everyone for the kids and parents to play. And as for tolwc123a umm,,,I dont think you really read her question,,,or you must be 12 years old. She is trying to be a good neighbor, she owns a dog, neighbor has a toddler that is playing with a fake gun. I dont care if the child is shooting marshmellows or feathers out of the play gun. She is trying to get advice on how to handle the situation. and for you to say, oh well if the child gets bit its his parents fault not yours,,,,,blah blah blah,,,the right to own a gun,,blah blah blah,,,,Yes,,, we all have the right to own a gun if we choose and it is our responsibility to use what ever type of gun "toy" or "real" to use it properly. Also she doesnt want her Car to get damaged,,,have you ever had to live next to someone and they damaged your car,,,,do you know what its like to have to go to small claims court and take time off of work? ohh no you dont, because you are 12 years old.
She is trying to get preventitive advice! not yelled at by some self ritegouse person who thinks just because there here on earth he has "rights" and you know what,,,,everyone has to earn the right and priviledge to do what we wish in a proper manner,,,,cant just walk around and do what ever,,regardless of others.
MY ADVISE listen to Schmoopie,,,I think she had the correct Advice.
I just wanna say that it isn't your concern about what other parents are teaching their kids to use. If they let them use toy guns, they let them use toy guns. It is NOT your place or responsibility to step in and try to impose your worries or feelings of what kids should and shouldn't be exposed to. This is the land of the free where parents can raise their kids how they please. (For the most part) Plus they are toy guns... from what you are saying they sound just like nerf guns but with plastic instead... An airSOFT gun, its all in the name!!!
So what if your vehicles get hit? It will probably not even leave a mark and even if it does, they have to pay for it because it was their responsibility to either not hit your vehicle or make sure their kids did not hit your vehicles. If they won't pay up, small claims court. Sue them for damages and court costs, you lose nothing, and your pretty much guarantted to win!
A rott? those are pretty strong dogs. If a 2 yr old can handle getting hit with one, im pretty sure a rott can handle it, and if your rott gets hit in a place where she doesn't need to be chained, and it goes after a person...not your fault. But just to be safe, when your rott is outside, keep him/her chained. And if a kid shot him/her on purpose, get your own gun and shoot them back... teach em a lesson and they wont.
hi well this is a tough one if you are concerned i dont blame you for not wanting 2 get hit maybe you could change things around like the dog house or vehicle or you could explain to your neighbors your concerns but i wud be nice abt it cause you have to live by them or if all eles fails try talking to the police explain you dont mind the kids toys so much but your concern is your car and your dog hopefull after a while they get tired of the guns and play somthing new or maybe they could chose a spot for them to play their guns kinda like a empty place for them to play good luck i hope everythings works out
tell the landowner tell him to tell the parents and kids if they dont go to a park and play with the guns he could have them sewed or taken out of that house. tell a mayor if he/she could make a rule of not teach there kids how to use guns unless the kid is over 15 and the kids with those guns can put the guns away and the parents can buy their kids paint ball guns they dont anyone.
I think people can feel free to have the opinion that they want. They should be able to express there opinion, and those who listen (which should be lots of people) should have an open mind, and maybe change there opinion. Some opinions may not turn into anything, but it doesnt mean there worthless. Even if nobody treasures your opinion, you should. Its what makes you who you are.
you can annonymously call the police dept and report it. I don't think you are allowed to shoot firearms in residential areas .
good luck
