My younger daughter was born with an umbellical hernia. Pretty pronounced. Our pediatrician said that as long as it goes in when you push gently on it, it's not anything to worry about. They rarely become strangulated. She said that if it was still there when she was 5, they'd correct it surgically. She's almost 18 months now, and it's still there, but MUCH less noticeable than it was a year ago.

My son, who is now 8 months old, was born with an umbilical hernia as well. The pediatrician told us that it would probably go away on its own, but if it was still there after he was a year old, it would probably have to be corrected surgically. I wouldn't worry too much yet, he is still young. My son's had cleared up by his 6 month check up. Just ask your pediatrician at each well visit to check it and see how it is progressing; he/she will probably do that anyway without you asking. I don't think it should be getting any bigger; if it is, I would call your son's doctor or nurse and discuss options. Good luck!!! Enjoy the little one; you blink and they are grown!

First off a baby being 11 pounds at seven weeks isn't big unless he's under 21 inches long. As long as you feed him when he's actually hungry and not every time he cries, babies won't become over weight. If you feed him all the time and he is actually considered over weight by his doctor, then ask a more experienced Mom you trust to help you learn when to feed and when he needs other things. There is no shame in admiting as a mom that we need someone elses advice from someone we trust.
NOW TO YOUR SUGGUESTION.
I have no idea where you are at, but if you have not seen a specialist, you should. A hospital children's medical center should be able to connect you with the proper type of doctor, one specializing in infants.
A friend of mine, her daughter had one, the doctors watched it and when it kept groving and you could feel her pulse in it, they had it removed at Primary Children's Medical Center in SLC, UT. Just make sure whomever you consult has experience in treating and doing surgery on infants Ambilical Hernias, don't just say Hernia, make sure you say you need a specialist who deals with Ambilical Hernia's, in a two month old.
I wish you the best.

Congrats on the breeder that informed you with reference to the hernia. an excellent form of breeders do no longer tell the hot owners and the hot owners discover out a the vet place of work. Hernias are to no longer serious. You did no longer say in the experience that your canines replaced right into a male or woman. If a woman in no way breed her. whether it closes on itself , which some do, the doggies can lay against it inflicting the hernia to open for the doggies to fall by way of. no longer saying which will happen yet there continuously an excellent gamble which will happen. The vet will restoration it while they restoration your canines. As for the guy who reported it replaced into undesirable breeding that's no longer the case. As no longer something to do with the breeder. It has lots to do with the mommy biting the twine to close to to the domestic dog. I even have decrease and tied my doggies twine, yet she bit the twine afterwards. I had one in each of my domestic dogs no longer have a hernia while it replaced into born yet confirmed up after the domestic dog replaced into bought. That replaced into the 1st for me. The vet will inform you what your thoughts are. good luck to you.

Umbilical Hernia surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her Hernia and colostomy surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for Minimal Invasive and Laparoscopy surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange Hernia, Appendectomy, Thyroid and other laparoscopy surgery for foreigners in India.
I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the Hernia, Colostomy and other minimal invasive surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

I dont think that it is supposed to get bigger. My nephew was born with one and they let it go away on its own. He was a teen when it was not noticeable anymore. Depending on the size, hernias can be very serious. call your pediatrician and tell him whats going on.

Don't worry. My son had one too when he was a baby. The doctors told me that it would go away by the time he was 2 years old but it went away way before that. I believe around 10 months old. Don't worry.

Sometimes it happens when they are born and probably nothing to worry about. It will probably not be a problem. If you are worried ask your babys doctor on his next visit and see if there is anything you should be aware of or watch for in the future. Good Luck

my kids have those too. They do get smaller as they grow but mine still have them (7). my daughter may need an operation later in the year, for something else and the surgeon is quite happy to fix it while under anasthetic. It is more a cosmetic reason to get it fixed and I would rather get it done now than to subject her to another anesthetic as a teenager (they do love to show their bellies)
