i don't know how she really feels. i'm still hoping... but should i just give up?

Question

a friend told me that she needed space when she found out that i liked her more than a friend. she said she didn't feel the same. after this, i asked if we could stay friends. she said that it's a bit weird now so she doesn't want to be friends anymore. we lost contact after this.

we hung out and talked a lot b4. we were good friends. but she gave clear hints that she liked me... (i think). she said that she'd rather go with me to her school dance than her current date, whom she asked herself to go with her. this is just one...

we haven't talked or seen each other for a bit over a month now.i was nearly getting over her. then... she emails me "HAPPY B-DAY!!!!" from her vacation a few mins after midnight on my b-day. she also mentioned how she was, very briefly.

by doing this what do u guys think she wants? to accept my "just friends" offer or did she realise something more?

i'm scared of asking her because it might just become much worse than last time.

It's really hard to tell because reading an email doesn't allow you to feel the sender's emotions unless they deliberatly state them. However if she just briefly stated how she was doing your probably somewhere on the line of just being friends. When you get the chance you should just tell her that you want to talk. I say let her come to you and let her says whats she wants, just friendship or even more. Dont push any thing dont say any thing, if she wants more your find out sooner or later. And trust me you will get over her if she ONLY wants to be friends and not more. Been there myself wanted more but he didnt, so now we are just really good friends. And looking back on the BIG crush i had for him,i'm glad we didnt date it wouldnt have worked out and i would have lost him as a boy friend and friend i'm sure. This way he will always be a dear friend. Maybe she isnt really sure what she wants and she may not even know til later down the road.
