Does $4000 for a 1980 corvette, 230 hp, glass top, manual transmission sound like a good deal? I dont remember how many miles it has, the brake system has some problems, I think I would have to work on the interior also

I would check the Edmunds or Kelley Blue book Value first.
Then I would get an estimate of what it would cost to restore
the car to the level you want. Fair , Moderate or Excellent.
If it would cost more that the car is worth, then you would be
better off looking for a car already in this condition and buy it.
It takes a lot of money to restore a car. 1980 corvettes are not
highly collectible and late 60's early 70 models.

I would confirm the Edmunds or Kelley Blue guide Value first. Then I would get an estimate of what it would cost to restore the car to the degree you want. Fair , Moderate or Excellent. If it would cost much more that the car is worth, then you would be much better off searching for a car presently in this scenario and buy it. It takes a great deal of cash to restore a car. 1980 corvettes tend to be not extremely collectible and late 60's early 70 models.

check the Kelly blue book price first: kbb.com

The 1980 Corvette was not a very popular style.

I wouldn't. But that's just me.

If the body and trim are in good shape, with no missing pieces, yes, it's an OK price.

Not if it's a "beater" with bad brakes, tires, paint, interior, suspension, and missing parts.

i own a repair shop, and if its in any kind of shape at all it should be worth that much id try and talk him down some though, that's not a bad price,,but if hes just asking that much he will probably take a little less for it,id try going in at 3500 and see what he says,,and make it cash also,,that really makes a big difference in selling or buying anything,i wish you luck with it,,i believe it could be made to be a real nice car,,good luck,,happy new years.

If you are a collector and have LOTS of money, go for it.
Corvettes are known for their love of money and mechanics.
