Pregnancy swimwear?

What do women traditionally wear when swimming during pregnancy?

I'm thinking that a normal bikini may look/be wrong?

I wore an ordinary swimsuit which was quite stretchy but most of my friends wore their normal bikinis. You can get special maternity swimsuits but the ones I looked at were so ugly. Of course this was some time back so they may have improved.

I've seen plenty of pregnant women in bikinis.

On the beach in Playa del Carmen, I've seen many pregnant women go topless.

But there are tons and tons of styles of more modest swimwear for pregnant women, if that's what you're looking for.

Me, I always got giant boobs right away, and needed a swimsuit with a little more coverage and support. Plus, I'm pretty active, and I wanted a suit that I could move around in without worrying about unwanted exposure. So the topless/bikini option was not for me. But I don't have a problem with folks who can pull it off!

PS: how can wearing a swimsuit "be wrong"? What's wrong about it?

try and find a tankini. it's got bikini bottoms and a vest type top that comes down over your tummy. they stretch and even when they do start to ride up when you get bigger they still cover more than a bikini. if you wanna wear a bikini tho you should just do it. don't worry about your bump being on display. the only reason i invested in tankinis rather than bikinis is that after two children my stomach is still a bit on the dodgy side as far as belly button wrinkles and stretch marks go. my bikinis stay in the drawer and all i wear now are my tankini's.

If you feel happy wearing a normal bikini then why not. I think pregnant women look beautiful and should be allowed to be proud of their bump. I'd be too embarassed to wear a bikini normally but if I felt happy then I would wear one pregnant. I wore a proper maternity swimsuit when pregnant from Mothercare.

My husband and I see more and more pregnant women at the beach in bikinis, even those who are very heavily pregnant. They look absolutely gorgeous. They put different colored zinc oxide all over their bellies in different designs, sort of like artwork, and it's just gorgeous. If you have worn bikinis in the past and are comfortable with them, why change just because you're pregnant? It's so cute to see those little decorated bellies out there, it's one of the few times I wish I'd actually given birth. I have 4 adopted daughters, and they think it's cute too. Just keep your belly covered with zinc oxide.

You can buy maternity tankinis (bikini bottoms and long top) that are nicer than swimsuits. If you buy a normal tankini it will prob be too short. Try Blooming Marvellous.

Well I was pregnant all summer long and all my children were born in the summertime, and I went to motherhood maternity and they have a whole selection but it really depends on how you comfortable about your body. I was pregnant with twins went to the store and brought me a two piece and I never felt sexier in my life hun you do you and don't let nobody tell you different.

I got a tankini from "additions" clothing. Only £12. it was quite cool looking. i didn't want to look like beached whale in a swim suit!!!

Have you tried Mothercare? I think it is usually a one piece costume. Everyone has different views about if you should have your baby bump on show. Good luck with your pregnancy, I hope goes well for you. xx
