I had my period about 2 1/2 weeks ago and now i'm bleeding very lightly. It's not even enough to use a tampon, it's just there when i go to the bathroom. It's dark, so i'm guessing it's old blood. I have had an paraguard IUD for 18 months now and this has never happend to me. I'm wondering if I may have gotten pregnant. Please help me figure this out. Thanks!

I really don't think it's an STD. I am married and have been faithful to him for 2 1/2 years and I didn't have sex a year before that. I was tested for STD's the last time I had sex with an ex-boyfriend about 4 years ago and everything was negitive.

Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally come. If you have spotting at the time of your normal period rather than your usual amount of flow, and you have had sex without using birth control, you should check a pregnancy test.

OR

Brown discharge may happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown; it could be either

Hope u find this info useful :)

I have never had an IUD before but I have been around for awhile.I think your uterus is just cleaning out some old dark blood that got left behind. You will be fine. If it were bright red blood that might mean a problem, but this is a little and dark.Don't worry.

I have an IUD too, and sometimes this happens to me. I talked to my provider and he said that it's normal.

Here is more information:

Both the ParaGard and the Mirena IUDs can cause longer, heavier, and more painful menstrual periods, but this is much less common with the Mirena. The increased blood flow may cause anemia. Spotting may occur without serious cause or as a sign of infection.

Well IUDs DO NOT cause infertility, not that I've ever heard before. If you can take some advice from a dude, I would suggest you go to your doctor and be tested for STDs, because chlamydia can cause women to bleed while not on their period. It may not be this, but it maybe safe than sorry. Hope this helps.

Well, first and foremost see your Gyno asap, but it is common to have what is called "break through bleeding" between periods. I am not familiar with IUD side effects however. If you are concerned about pregnancy you should most definitely see your doctor. Good luck!

You should make a doctors appointment as soon as possible. If you start bleeding heavier go to the emergency room. Do not hesitate at all when it comes to your health.

You're not pregnant, it is/was probably old blood from your period that finally came out. Bright red blood would be a concern
