If you have a passion to learn how to dance, you're never to
old! My suggestion to you would be take something you think your interested in. If you think you'll like hiphop, then take hip hop. However, I would highly suggest taking ballet, as it is the basis for all dance; it will help you find your center and the correct positioning. Plus a fact, by taking ballet, you hip hop will look much better. I know it sounds kind of funny, but I've seen people who take hip hop and don't take ballet and you can really tell their technique is not as great. But whatever you do, take something you enjoy. You can always add another class next year!

gymnastics will help your flexibility A LOT. If your interested in hip hop..go for it! I can't think of any negative effects of gymnastics on dance. I personally love ballet, but its all up to you. I think you should take SOME kind of dance though...from hip hop to ballroom...i think they're all great. have fun!

Your never to old for dance lessons... Hip-hop would be the best since you were in gymnastics. Throw yourself out there and do your best!

You're not too old to dance. :)
Try Lindy Hop. With your gymnastics background you would be doing aerials in no time. It's a VERY COOL style of dancing. You could even compete if you wanted.
Good luck!

You're NEVER too old to dance. i started last year, and i compete with girls who have been dancing their whole life. hip hop is fun, but I find jazz, ballet, and lyrical more enjoyable. thats MY opinion tho. always take ballet, it helps, even with hip hop.
Rock on!!!!
