Cedar Point, Cedar Point, Cedar Point!!! Near Cleveland, OH. Awesome coasters, wooden and steel. They have a stand-up coaster called the Mantis, the Raptor lets your feet dangle turning you upside down like 6 times, the Magnum is heart-pumping thrills. The Millenium Force is the bomb! I could go on and on about the coasters. Check out the website. They have hotels 10 minutes away or right there at the point which are hotels/suites/campground. It's right there on Lake Erie so you can lay by the beach. They have a water park, Soak City with slides and a lazy river. Fun for the whole family. Shows for Grandma and a ton of rides for the little ones. You can't do it in a day. Stay about 4 days and do the water park.

Funtown/Splashtown in Maine! Do you like crowds? What time of year do you intend to visit an amusement park? Are you a coaster fan or do you like more calm "rides" ? How much of a budget do you have? Santa's Village in Jefferson NH and Storyland in Glenn NH are both wonderful small parks in New England that are seasonal. The crowds and weather are much milder in July at these locations then the typical big park venues such as the world reknowned Disney/6 Flags/Busch, etc...

Depends what you're looking for. If you're looking for thrill rides, rollercoasters and no real "theme" to any of it, Cedar Point is the place. They've got more rollercoasters than anyplace else in the world and their selection is second to none.
If you want a theme park experience where you feel like you're transported to someplace else entirely, you just can't beat Walt Disney World. They don't have the biggest and fastest rides in the world, but you won't find quality like Disney's anyplace else.
For a good combination of both with thrilling rides and an experience that pulls you in and thrills you with new and exciting rides at the same time, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure is a pretty good bet as well.

Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio!! It's been voted the “...'Best Amusement Park in the World' for a record eighth consecutive year in an international survey conducted by the readers of Amusement Today..." Plus their new roller coaster that's going to be opening up this upcoming year looks freakin' awesome. The "Maverick" video is sure to kick your boots right off!

Everyone here is for the most part correct, except those who live in California and say Magic Mountain is the best part.
Don't know where you live -- but the further east you live, the better off you are in terms of theme parks.
The west coast is a sad place for being an amusement park fan.

Busch Gardens: The Old Country in Williamsburg VA.
4 world class roller coasters (5 with the opening of The Gryphon in 2007) plus it is constantly voted the best looking park in the US.
The theme of European countries makes it fun to just walk around in the park.
There is something for everyone....coasters for the "Thrill seekers"....Land of the Dragons for little kids....and great shows for those that don't like rides....all put together in a beautiful package.

I'd have a tough time going against DisneyWorld in Orlando, for the all around experience, but it does depend on quite a few things.
Rides: The Six Flags parks seem to be heavy on big ticket rides, as does Universal in Orlando
Value: Knoebels in PA
Animals: Sea World
All Around Quality: DisneyWorld

If you like Roller Coasters then Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH is the best place (ton of coasters, lots of variation).
If you are looking for an overall experience I like Disneyworld (the haunted house is the best :) ).
For water parks I like Wet and Wild although I think Disneyworld has their own water park as does Cedar Point.

I like Six Flags Magic Mountain in CA because of the Goliath coaster--it's freakin awesome! You plummett into a dark misty hole right off the bat as the first drop.
Busch Gardens is a great park too, it really has a lot of other stuff to do besides the rides. The wildlife is amazing!

Cedar Point is the best! Boasting 365 acres; it has 16 roller coasters (17 with the addition of Maverick in 2007) plus over 65 rides the most rides total than anyother amusement park in the world. Plus its been voted Best Amusement Park in the world!
