Ohio St won the Big Ten, but was #1 in the final BCS poll putting them in the BCS Title Game. Therefore, the Rose Bowl took Michigan, the 2nd place team in the Big Ten, and they did NOT have to choose Michigan, they could have selected another one loss team like LSU, but they chose Michigan to play USC to uphold the Rose Bowls decades long tradition of the winners of the Pac 10 and Big 10 playing each other in the Rose Bowl

USC is playing in the rose bowl but the rose bowl is not the championship game this year. The championship game is the Tostitos BCS Championship game on Jan. 8 on FOX. So Usc will play Michigan in an ordinary BCS bowl game while Florida and Ohio St will play 4 the championship

USC is playing Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Ohio is playing Florida in the BCS Championship. To answer you're question, Ohio isn't in the Rose Bowl because they were good enough to get into the BCS Championship game.

The rose bowl is not selected like that anymore (Big10 vs Pac 10). Now the Rose Bowl is part of the Bowl Championship Series (along with the Orange, Fiesta and Sugar Bowls) In addition to these there is a National Title Game. The National Title Game pits the #1 and #2 BCS rated teams in a game for the title (The BCS rankings are put together in a complex formula taking into account several human polls and also computer generated ones). After #1 and #2 are determined, the other Bowls get to choose teams out of the remaing BCS eligible teams (conference winners and high rated teams). Its a really complex thing that is pointless...they should just have a playoff system

The Rose Bowl is the Pac-10 vs the Big Ten (champions), unless one team is going to the national championship. This year the national championship is held in Arizona (the championship game moves around each year), and since Ohio State is number one in BCS, they go to the title game. Since USC lost to UCLA, they dropped in the rankings, but they still won the Pac-10. Thus, they guaranteed their spot in the Rose Bowl and play Michigan, who was second in the Big Ten.

Ohio is not in the Big Ten anyways, Ohio State is. And OSU is not playing in the rose bowl b/c they are playing in the championship game which is not being played at the Rose Bowl this year.

Your question makes tons of sense if you'd asked it 10 years ago.
However, we've got this cluster-$%&ed system call the "Bowl Championship Series" or "BCS" for short. Because the Rose Bowl (and the rest of the big bowls) make too much money, the NCAA won't do a proper playoff series.
In order for the top-2 teams to meet, they have to play with the traditional bowl lineups. This year's Big-10 champion is playing for that "championship" so the number 2 Big Ten team will go to the Rose Bowl instead.
Might I encourage you to leave your cave a bit more often?

this is obvious it is because they lost to ucla in their conference championship game that gave them 2 losses florida and michigan only had 1 florida, by the way, won the SEC championship went 12-1 with one of the toughest schedules in college football. They are much more deserving than your stupid trojans. what are you thinking. DO you know anything about college football? That is why they are not playing Ohio state in the championship, like the florida gators are! FSU kicks ***!(my friend said that) i hope you now understand.
