Oh, no! That is sooooooooooo sad! I really hate to hear that, I am a cat lover also. I think you could probably clean out the inside of the dryer with bleach and really clean the lint trap. I think it will be ok, but if you are unable to get the smell out, you may have to get another dryer. But try a practice load first to see what happens. You don't want to try and dry a whole load and then have to throw them out too. Good luck.

Wipe out your dryer with a solution of baking soda and water, dry some old towels or rags using too many(5-6) dryer sheets wipe and repeat. That should clean the dryer. Sorry nothing can be done for the cat.
I am sincerely sorry for your loss.

My mother's boss lost her cat this way, so I know it happens. She was drying tennis shoes, so she thought the thumping was the shoes. She ended up just getting a new dryer. Not only was there the issue of smell, but the cat had ended up pretty bloodied, so there was a huge mess. It was easier for her to get a new dryer so she did not have to think about the way the cat died every time she did a load of clothes.
Sorry for the loss, but I think you should just go get a new dryer.

The dryer is probably fine. This doesn't happen too often, but I am thinking the clothes would absorb the smell, and you got rid of them. Just check where the kids are before starting the dryer, ok?

Hi! How awful. Did you not hear the thumping inside the drier?? (hmm, maybe laundry room is aways from the room you were in)
TO CLEAN THE INSIDE OF A DRIER YOU WILL NEED:
2 tablespoons of Pine Sol in l bucket of HOT water, gloves and a rag.
Squeeze as much water from the rag as you can. Wipe all inside areas inside the drier. Repeat this a couple times. You can also swish the lint trap in the cleaning water, rinse it really well and let it air dry or dry it with a blow drier.
Use HOT water only, and a fairly damp rag to rinse after cleaning. Make sure you wipe it a few times with a clean hot damp cloth.
Poor kitty... :o(

I would run some towels that you don't need anymore in the dryer with lots of dryer sheets to obsorb the smell.
