Can someone tell me why my neighbor loves to shoot off a gun? He points it toward the night sky and pulls the trigger multiple times, as though bullets never have to return to earth....I think there needs to be a IQ test for gun ownership....if you rank at village idiot or moron, they give you a squirt gun instead!!! Several neighbors have called the police on the jerk but they can't be everywhere....and he does this once or twice a week...any advice?

I am a gun owner and will never give up that right, but I agree with you that the IQ test wouldn't be a bad idea. First of all I think that you should go talk to him diplomatically. Tell him that it bothers you and ask politely if he would stop. Secondly, where do you live??? Here in Mass you have to be 300 yards from someone else's house in order to fire a gun unless you have their consent (which he clearly doesn't have). Also, If he is firing it at the night sky he must be breaking some kind of noise ordinance law. I have never been somewhere where you could make that much noise at night. And...It is not safe for someone to fire a gun into the air. If you are in any first world country the police would intervene at that. I find it hard to believe that you are living next to this wacko who is breaking all kinds of laws and the police don't want in. Police love to take guns away, especially from crazies. I don't see why this wouldn't be their first priority. If they are really ignoring you then go talk to the police. In most places the police chief has responsibility over the guns in his community and will have the power to get this guys guns confiscated if what you say is true.

A facination in the technological development of propelled objects...I see no problem with this. So the guy likes guns, big deal. Have you ever asked him WHY he does it?

And since the law won't take action until someONE is injured, as fat ***** said, you can always give peta a call and proclaim that he's endangering wildlife for the thrill of it.

Video surveillance would give You proof positive of His behavior. It is not His I.Q. which is in question, but rather the matter of His emotional condition, and mental state of mind.
It sounds to me like You are living at the scene of a 'future' "shooting accident" just waiting to happen!

Try to stay out of the line of fire as much as you can and put your house up for sale. The law won't do anything about him UNTIL someone gets hurt or even killed.

I'd rather shoot myself in the head that talk about gun control.
