If the Internet was banned today -- on an international/global wide basis, then I would imagine that an underground movement would arise to keep the Internet alive in some manner. As with many things that are socially banned, there are those who will work to ensure that it's not totally lost.
There are still enough people alive today that remember how to get information without the use of the Internet. People would start using the library more often, they would purchase Encyclopedias and dictionary's, again. The majority of the world would revert back to the time before the Internet emerged from Business/Government use to mainstream use.
What would happen if it became banned in 20-30 years, when the majority of the world most likely will rely on the Internet for 80-90% of what they do and have not learned what it's like to live without it...

I hate to say it but that would never happen. Regardless the effects of it there are many things that are globally bad for the world, however they remain intack. People are not willing to give up the things they love to save, or at least me less destructful to our Earth for our future's lives. Human beings are to "connected" to the internet that all in all, it would be impossible to get rid of. Just think of how the people would react... its kinda funny but also kinda lame.. a lot of people would be really pissed.

It would be like the Orsen Wells radio address about the USA being attacked from outer space. Some folks would commit suicide, others would feel fear all the way to their toes. Most of us would be dumbfounded and not know what to do besides sit and slobber. In other words, it would be a world wide catastrophy!! We'd never recover.

The Internet was designed to survive Global Nuclear War.
You can ban it, but you can't stop it (the Chinese have tried)

We'd finally talk to each other in person....lol
Of course, if the Internet were banned, most other personal communications probably would be too, so just get ready to hide in your bomb shelters....

It could happen with a Hillary. She'll try to shut down talk radio first, and then probably turn her restriction of Freedom of Speech upon the Internet, according to her Socialist agenda.

We would probably all shrivel up and die.
The phones would be all clogged up from too many people trying to use them at once.
Publicity for companies and organizations would decline by at least half.
And research prijects for school would become near impossible.
So let's just hope it never happens.

We would lose virtually all communications files, loss of media coverage of events and things, so pretty much utter chaos because our lives revolve around computers and the internet.

Well we'd have to go back to using the telephone, making trips to the library, bank, stores, etc. We'd also have to lunch more often. Bummer.
