Anyone who has a pet knows that over time they become part of your family, and you truly do love them. You feel unconditionally loved by them. So it's only natural to vocalize it because you hope (though you know better) that they understand you. I love my dogs (a beagle mix and a retriever mix) and I tell them all the time!

No.. I tell them all the time.. and I really do. My cat Ginger always snuggled up to me and cheered me up when I'd be crying cuz I missed Hubby while he was in Iraq.

No. I'll say other stuff like "good morning, or excuse me" but that's about as far as the greetings since I have had children

I have two cats, Phantom and Pasha, and I do tell them that I love them. My son and I consider them a part of our family.
