I did something different this Christmas having spent over 40 years shelling boiling chestnuts for the turkey stuffing, and stuffing a turkey, peeling potatoes, carrots and preparing the sprouts and making them Christians with a cross on the base on Christmas Eve. - Christmas Day morning was spent nipping in and out of the kitchen making bread sauce, organising the Christmas pudding and brandy butter.

This year [with good reason] I produced a Christmas Lunch as good as any in the past - Bernard Matthews Turkey Breast Roast in butter sauce whith took 80 minutes to cook from thawed, tinned baby carrots, tinned garden peas, Bisto gravy made with the water from the potatoes par boiled on Christmas Eve, Gary Rhodes roast potatoes [par boiled, and dropped into the deep fat fryer, bread sauce made the day before and heated up on the hob with the addition of double cream, roast sausages and parsnips dropped into the oven at 10.00 am Christmas Day.

Everyone was impressed - none more than me as I had time to enjoy coffee with brandy at 10.00 am watching the grandchildren opening their presents, pre-lunch drinks and nibbles at 12.00 mid day and Christmas Lunch at 1.00 pm.

No more left over turkeys - and I still have two more BM TB Joints in the deep freezer.

- and I made the Chestnut Stuffing the day before in bread tins so I can slice portions - and it's really yummy this year with tinned chestnuts!

Happy New Year to all.

Didn't have any to start with. We had festive crimbo duck. Much nicer. And they're smaller than the steroid bound turkeys that supermarkets sell, so there's none left on Boxing Day.

Hurrah.

Yeah lots, everyone who lives at my home will be having leftovers everyday until January we are not going out to eat or having Fast Food. Stricly leftovers nothing person its just that why waste money going out to eat when we have food here at home.
