Run a cycle with vinegar. Then 2 cycles with water. That will clean the percolator.

Mr. Coffee makes stuff especially to clean out coffeepots. We have used it in our coffeemaker, and it doesn't stink as bad as the vinegar does.

If you only want to remove stains from the pot, you can fill it almost to the top with water, and put in maybe 1/4 cup of bleach to fill it the rest of the way and let it soak overnight. But I have people telling me that you shouldn't clean the stains out of coffeepots...supposed to make the coffee taste better? I don't know tho about all that...

you can run a mixture of bleach (about 1/4 cup to 10 cups of water) through. Make sure after you do that, you can run plain water through 3 or 4 times after. IF you are not comfortable doing that, you can try to run 2 cups of vinegar through 2 or 3 times and then run plain water through 4 or 5 times. I believe there is also a product that a lot of stores carry that helps clean this also.

my favorite coffee cup had stains that wouldn't come out. no matter what i tried, and the cup was small enough that i couldn't reach to the bottom. after giving up on ever getting them out, one day i poured myself a glass of 'Coke' in the cup. when i finished the drink i went to rinse it in the sink and the stains were gone! i still drink coffee, but am having serious thoughts about giving up coke a cola!!! if all else fails ya, give it a try. good luck, and happy new year!

put 1 cup of white vinegar and the rest water in the coffee maker, and run it through a whole cycle. This will remove any oil and buildup, and also make your coffee fresher. After you have run that through, run one pot of plain water through to remove any of the vinegar scent and flavor. This really works, I do it all the time!
