It's sad that nowadays people don't know the true meaning of Christmas.. I think that with the way it is presented on television and in stores, people just ASSUME it's about presents, which isn't true at all.

Actually Jesus doesn't even have anything to do with the meaning of Christmas.
Christmas wasn't celebrated until the 300s C.E., long after Jesus' actual birthdate had been forgotten. Birthdays weren't considered important back then, and thus were never celebrated. However, in the 300s in Rome, the state religion was Mithraism, a Pagan faith that celebrated Natalis Solis Invicti, "Birth of the Invincible Sun God," on the winter solstice. Presently, the winter solstice usually falls on the 21 or 22 of December, but it occurred later and later the farther back in time you go.
In order to rival Mithraism, which threatened the future of the Catholic Church, Church Fathers decided to create a holiday to help draw people to Christianity instead. They mimicked the Mithraism celebration of the birth of their god, by celebrating the birth of Christianity's god (or one part of the "Holy Trinity"): Jesus. To avoid persecution, they celebrated in the same ways. They decorated with the same colors and images (nativity scenes), hung mistletoe (which dates back to the days of ancient Celts, who would hang it in their homes to promote health and good fortune for the coming winter), and they would even decorate a fir tree with candles and colorful decorations, which originated from Nordic Pagan solstice celebrations, and is used as a phallic symbol representing Divine masculinity (didn't know you were decorating a giant penis symbol did you?).
Everything Christmas was Pagan first. The actual birthdate of Jesus has been disputed for years, but the best argument I've heard supports the notion that he was born on September 29, 5 B.C.E. http://www.new-life.net/chrtms10.htm

Why is your character wearing a Santa Claus costume? Don't you know that Saint Nicklaus was a saint that lived and died in modern Turkey 800 years ago and that he had nothing to do with Christmas? He was actually worshiped by fisherman, not children hoping to get a good gift.
Did you know that Christmas actually originated from a pagan celebration related to the winter solstice and that the expression "light of the World" that you used is also a remnant of those ancient traditions?
Did you know that according to the Bible Jesus Christ was actually born in the Autumn time, four years before the date the Church settled?
The point is:
a) Don't pass judgments on subjects you don't understand.
b) Eating with your family, spending time with your loved ones, sharing gifts are things to be proud about not judgmental...

But it's not really. What does decorating a tree and your house with mistletoe, and holly and ivy and burning a Yule log at the same time as the Winter Solstice have to do with the baby Jesus?

Do you think that family is un-important?
There is no reason why a family can not eat together and celebrate christmas.
I don't really understand your point.

The non-believers might take offense. Shopping and eating are religiously neutral and help funnel money into the economy. Prayer and giving thanks to our Savior don't cost anything!

Many people aren't sure if God really exists. Others are simply God-haters. They need someone to tell them who Jesus really is.
