depends on the size of the goldfish
and the age of the piranhas
i have oscars and bigger texas cichlid,
they live in harmony after 4 years with goldfish their size
people ask me what the hell is wrong with them
i feed my oscars and cichlids nightcrawlers and smaller goldfish
its funny how the carcass gets nibbled by the bigger goldfish
shows the friendship status,
they also hate lil goldfish =P

yes, as any fish that eats live food will.
on occasion it is not uncommon for them to actualy let one or two live it sounds weird but they sort of get used to them being there and will leve them alone even when they feed on others you put in the tank.
but if they get hungery enough they will eat them.

You shouldn't leave them in too long. They are very dirty and can kill the piranhas...
