I used to be a LLL leader and questions about meds and breastfeeding are so common. But the truth is, when taken as directed, over the counter medications are fine to take while breastfeeding. Every package will say something about breastfeeding and checking with your health care professional, but OTC meds are no problem, but DO make sure you increase your fluids if you are suffering with a cold. Also, get plenty of extra rest along with those fluids- you need it to get yourself better and keep up your milk supply. Take care! Just rest and enjoy your baby--get better soon.

None!! Rest as much as you can (take the baby to bed with you if it is young). If the baby is older sleep when it sleeps and try to get someone to look after it for a few hours to get some extra rest. See a doctor to make sure you don't have an infection and need antibiotics

You give no indication of the active ingredients in the medication, so no one can answer this question, or even determine if it is safe for you to breastfeed (it probably is). Avoid all decongestants if you are breastfeeding as they will reduce your milk supply. Tylenol and Ibuprofen are fine. So is chicken soup, tea with honey and lemon, steam, and orange juice. Avoid products containing zinc, as it is easy to get too much. For accurate, up to date answers to questions about medications and breastmilk, call the number given at the infantrisk website.

You'd be fine with Tylenol or Sudafed I'm sure. They're ok when pregnant. Anything else I'd check with a dr.
