To live. To love and be loved in return. To shower happiness upon those around you. To breathe in life and let go of the stress and tragedies. To be at peace. To be you. Smile! :)

The meaning of this world is give glory to God in all that you do. Even if you are not a Christian, you can still find light in this. You should live for a greater cause. Why live if you aren’t going to help anybody. The meaning of world is to give life to others. That’s the only way you can find satisfaction.

I noticed all answers have a distinctly anthropocentric slant to them; i.e. what is the meaning for 'humanity' in this world. That is not the question, the question is the meaning of the world. As the only known place in the universe to harbor life, does this planet have a deeper meaning? Clearly we are a part of this higher meaning but not the sole aspect of it.

I think this planet is 'happy' that it is flourishing with life and the global aim is to preserve this situation and keep up the balance. As humans we have done more damage to that balance than any other life form on the planet, but we too are bound by the same rules and the same physics applies on us as applies on trees and bacteria.

I think the meaning is about balance. Living in harmony, using what we need and not using up more than can be replenished. Currently we are not in balance and this will have consequences, because the World will not allow one species to tear apart everything it spent millions of years to create. Global warming, reduced food supplies, scarcity of drinking water and worsening weather patterns are the price we pay for this imbalance and if we go too far we shall find ourselves over the precipice handing over the reins of this planet to some other organism...

We make it up as we go along. Every generation wants to change the world. Mostly, for the better. We seem to have made a mess of that.

Hopefully the current generation of young people will make better judgements and decisions.

My answer to your question would have to be: The meaning to this world can be found in your achievements and failures, and what you learn from them.
