Congrats on the 400!

My best spawn ever was 372. The rest have been anywhere between 100-200. You can raise that many fry, as long as you have lots of tanks for the females, or one big one, and you are willing to change water on lots and lots of cups everyday. That's part of why I don't breed bettas quite as much anymore.

You need to cut down on the fry - and separate them or they will die off anyway. Try cutting down to about 20 - it sounds like very little since you said you have 400 - but I don't know what kind of tank you are dealing with either.

Typically between 100-200.

wow, that's a lot.. my first batch was around 30 fries.

let nature takes its course.. The father will start culling the fries if he's in there. Or you should be the one to cull.. You can't raise that much and disease will spread quickly with so many fries.

400 is a very large spawn, larger than I've ever had (which was at most around 280)!

Seperate them into several tanks to increase survival rates - if kept together, fewer will survive.
