ps3 and xbox is a better system than the wii, playstation and xbox will most likely make games for their system longer than how long nintendo will make games for the wii,...the playstation is just now coming out with it's 3rd generation system and the nintendo wii is coming out with it's ...what like 5th generation system, at that rate you will probably only find games for the wii for two years, after which will be another system that everyone thinks they want...it just seems to me that the wii is just more of a novelty game

I agree, seems like all of the Nintendo systems don't stay around long, they fade away. Think about it...
1st - Nintendo
2nd - Super Nintendo
3rd - Nintendo 64
4th - Gameboy(black/white)
5th - Gameboy Color
6th - Gamecube
7th - Gameboy Advance
8th - Gameboy Advance SP
9th - Nintendo DS
Now - Nintendo Wii
I don't know if this is because all of Nintendo systems and games are geared toward kids, and as the kids get older they want more then the kid type games. So I think Nintendo keep trying to come up with systems and games, to keep up with Sony and their market. Nintendo really can't compete with Microsoft, because Mircosoft is more then a gaming system, they are on the line of computers, with the built in hardrive memory and with Mircosoft being the leader in computers, their systems will always be on the computer upgrade.

wow...where to start...
#1. define better system~graphics and processor speed the ps3 is top notch with the x360 a very close 2nd place. without a doubt they will have the best looking games out there. Keep in mind that Nintendo has said many time they know htey cannot compete with sony and microsoft in that since but what they can compete in is gameplay and thats what the Wii is all about they wanted to make a system that anyone from the hardcore gamer to the person who's never pickup a controler can jump on. Its all about having fun thats why there controller is so simple, so you don't have to figure out button combinations for a single move. so it just depends on what you define as a better system...do you want a game that looks really good but is only for 1 player or online play only or would you rather have a fun game that you can invite your friends over to play and everyone can get into.
#2 even if this is Nintendos 5th gen system keep in mind that they have been going stong for over 20 years and that the only busines they are in is the game business. microsoft is in the gaming and computer business , but sony is in every field involving electroincs. Nintendo has survived the system wars of the 90 and is still up and going. I'm not hating on the other systems(i own both) but nintendo is going to make a big comeback with the Wii. Ask anybody that works at a game store. The big thing this christmas wasn' the ps3 or even the x360it was the wii and the DS. We constantly got calls for them and very few for the other 2
Lastly #3 sure the ps3 and x360 are somewhat backwards compatabe but keep in mind that with the Wii you will be able to download games from the original NES and Sega Master system and lots of systems all the way up to the gamecube. If you want to you can download games like the original Mario Bro's and Mike Tysons Punch-out. When you think that a big part of gamers are 20-35 yrs old then these are the kind of games we (i'm 27) want to play as well as those that are new.
The Wii is far from a novelty...

The gamecube came out 4 or 5 years ago and they still make games for them, and in fact their games will work on the wii, so it's not like it's wasted material. Plus, even if your theory of the wii being a "novelty", which it's not since it's technology blows Sony and Microsoft out of the water, it's a much more affordable investment than a PS3. And nintendo has been around longer than either Sony or Microsoft. They actually started in the late 1800's with playing cards. So if you like your Sony or Microsoft product better, that's fine. But before you go spouting information you don't even know about, do some research and check up on your history. Remember that the only reason there are even "gamers" is because nintendo revived the whole video console concept in the mid 80's. Nintendo is king and the rest can bow down and thank them for paving the way.

Sony,Microsoft and Nintendo have all just made their 7th generation gaming systems;PS3,Xbox 360 and Wii.

The Wii will be Nintendos newest console system for a few years*,if history is anything to go by. The Wii is also backwards compatible with the Gamecube, and is able to 'download' SNES,NES and N64 games. It's has a fine lifespan.

(*They will most likely make a new handheld console, which may be compatible with the Wii in some way.)

Finally, the Wii isn't a "novelty game",nor a novelty console. While some gamers may appreciate consoles with the same old gameplay, controls and functions that the PS3 and Xbox 360 offer, the Wii has overall won the 7th generation console war.

The whole idea behind it may seem like a novelty, however it is in fact a great console despite the fact its style hasn't been completely overdone and tweaked to 'perfection' like the other console's styles have. The Wii is new and original, but no novelty.

Nintendo is only coming out with its 5th generation console because it's been in the business much longer than Sony or Microsoft. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1980 or 81, the Playstation came out in 1998 or 99, and the Xbox was released in 1900 or 2000. I bought a Gamecube back in the late 90s and it served me faithfully for 6 or 7 years before a new system came out (though I admit, some of the handheld consoles have certainly become novelty systems). Seems long enough to me :).

WOW, some of you people are really slow. Nintendo has made a lot of systems
NES
SNES
Virtual Boy
N64
Gamecube
Wii

and a a lot of hand helds

Gameboy
Play it loud Gameboy
Gameboy color
Gameboy pocket
Gameboy light
Gameboy color
Gameboy Advanced
Gameboy Advanced SP
Gameboy Micro
and Nintendo DS

But then you have to look at it this way,
One they have been around the longest, and well still going. I think they also beat Sega out of there own name. The Sega genises was better then the SNES but nintendo steped it up and pushed them out. I think they have made a lot of good desicions sense they started. Every single thing they put out has something new to it. For you boring people who like the same thing over and over and over again PS3 and XBox360 are giving it to you, the Wii has yet again steped up the game into a much diffrent world. Mindless people play games with good graphics and bad plots. Still to this day FFIV is my all time favorite game, it has one of the best story lines in the world but the graphics are very dim, ESPECIALLY compared to today, but i would still rather play it over some PS3 game or XBox360 game because it gives you a reason to play, you feel apart of the game.

and to people who think that all of those mario games would get boring, non..well ok maybe two or three are but non of them are the same. They are always diffrent even Super Mario 64 changed for the DS in a big way to i might add.

The world hasn't learned how to control the Wii just yet, and i think it will take some time for them to perfect this half year old technoligy, they will eventually get the hang of it and yet again force its oponents out of the game.

I do recall with the DS and PSP that Nintendogs of all games is what killed the PSP.

I think Nintendo also has consideration for its fans, making TLoZ:TP come out for both Wii and Gamecube, they dont want to force people to have to have to buy the Wii.

So in answer to your quastion, i am correcting you because you are wrong.

Wii is waaaaaaaaay better, its the only system that deserves to be called "next-generation" the other systems are just the same thing over and over again, jsut with better graphics, except for the PS3, which at the last moment, decided to make a cheap ripoff of the wii..

I have all three game systems, I belive PS3 and 360 are way better, I have already used motion control before like EYETOY or the ps3 sixaxis, so i am not very interested in the wii. Its only special ability is the Motion control.

what ever, the wii is sooooooo much better and a better investment for a game system. I love the wireless controllers and the older games. Plus it plays the game cube games and will take the game cube controllers. I think you're jealous, that you don't have a wii
