I believe the most memorable character is the wicked witch of the west. Over the years I must've heard that line, "I'll get you and your little dog too!" about a zillion and one times. People can be referred to as the wicked witch of the west when displaying certain behaviours. And shortly after the movies release the poor actress that played the witch was treated very poorly by people for doing nothing wrong. Her character was taken so seriously that she was insulted and chased through streets. Now that...is a powerful performance.

All the characters were great in their own way, but frankly, the characters that always stand out for me are the flying monkeys. Those things terrified me as a child. I don't really like monkeys to this very day. My mom is the Wizard of Oz queen and watches it multiple times a year.

I'm gonna have to agree with some of the other posters and say those creepy flying monkeys! They freaked me out as a kid too! Still hate monkeys to this day...

The wicked witch. She has two of the most memorable lines; "I'll get you my pretty! ...... and your little dog too!" and "I'm melting". Both can be used in everyday conversation in the office.
