I have recently added 2 pink Kissing Gourami to my tank. Although all the info that I have read would suggest that they are relatively peaceful. They do chase each other round the tank - Should I take one of them out or will they eventually settle down

Any two Gourami that are of the same species (ex: 2 Blue Gouramis, 2 Pearl Gouramis, 2 Kissing Gouramis, etc.) are going to be territorial around each other. Until they settle their differences, you are going to continue to have problems. In many cases they will settle down. If the problems persist, you may need to consider separating them.

You were, unfortunately, misinformed. Kissing gouramis are big, semi-aggressive fish, and that 'kissing' you see, is actually them fighting for dominance and territory.

In a large tank (60 gallons at the least) they could possibly have enough territory each - but in a small tank, they will not be very peaceful with each other (or possibly other members of the tank). They will grow to 8-10".

If your tank is big, give them a few days to settle down. If the tank is small, you should bring them back to the petstore and get something smaller, like dwarf gouramis, or even gold / blue / pearl gouramis.

The information you read was faulty. Gouramis tend to be territorial towards other of their species (and also towards related species). The "kissing" is actually the fish sparring for dominance over one another. Unless you have a huge tank, the two gouramis---btw, this species grows to about 10" long and need a fairly large tank anyhow---do not have enough territory for the two of them to coexist.

They are setting up hierarchies and territories. Territorial fish tend to do that in new environments. They should relax within a few days. If one of them gets wounded or becomes too shy, hiding in corners and not feeding, then you should separate that fish to another tank, but as I said they should be alright.

I'd only be concerned if they are nipping at each other. Chasing is harmless and they'll eventually stop.

they should always be the same size as the old ones when adding new fish. they are actually locking jaws. they will be ok. if I remember they kind of like to swim in schools of 3 or 4. the larger the tank the bigger they will grow

no way- they are just trying to 'kiss' each other, as that is in its nature. or maybe it's mating season for the fish.
