At the beginning, the instruction for acoustic and electric guitars is exactly the same. You need to learn the fundamentals. The Mel Bay Method is pretty basic, but you could get pointed in the right direction at a decent music store that sells instruments and sheet music. They always have a variety of instructional books and I'm sure they'd be glad to help you.
