Someone added me to their msn and I don't know who it is. Of course, I can see their e-mail, but their name on MSN is just the letter "x". I have no idea who it is and every time I am on MSN, they are off line so I can't ask them who they are. And it is bugging the crap outta me. Any help would be appreciated. ThanX :o)

If you don't know who it is, don't talk to them. They might be a pedophile. The best thing you could do is to block them, so it prevents them from talking to you.

It depends. An e-mail can be completely anonymous or if it's linked to a service such as Yahoo or MSN then it could be that the e-mail owner has a profile that you can read. Of course, the profile could be completely fabricated so any info you do find out should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Often the type of e-mail you've received is linked to spam or a similar type of mass mailing. My advice would be to delete it before opening it, simply opening it could be enough to confirm your e-mail address is active and in doing so could invite a barage of spam in the future (even if you do add them to your blocked list).

In your e-mail program highlight the e-mail in question (but don't open it), right click, slect Properties from the menu, click the Details tab. This will display all the info about the e-mail incliding the IP address and the e-mail address it originated from. This info can help determine if it's genuine or not and may help you track down the sender.

Usually every profile on Hotmail has a description where ppl. can add their name, location, etc. If you right-click on the X person and click 'view profile' that info should show up, unless they decided to leave it blank. Why not send them an email message asking them who they are and if you get no response, just block that contact.
