Try the SQR3 method for studying....
SCAN the textbook. Read the bolded subtitles. Read the captions to the pictures. While you are scanning,
QUESTION what you are reading... what do you already know? You don't really need to go in depth on stuff you already have mastered... After S & Q then
READ the text. Do this in 20 minute increments... this is about how long the brain can last on straight reading... lol... set a timer and get up and get a drink of water or a healthy snack... stretch. Then go back to reading... while reading,
RECITE... yup. Out loud. Read to yourself... another helpful hint at this level of studying is to write down notes to yourself... or highlight important info in the text... most teachers look for questions that answer who, what, when, where, why.... so look for text that would answer those natural questions... once you have READ, RECITED... then you want to
REVIEW your notes... go back and scan the text again... look over the info before you take a test...
I hope this helps. Studying is something that improves with practice.... Set a specific time during the day to study... don't sacrifice sleep and health for study time... it isn't worth it in the long run... make sure your study area is clean and organized. It is hard enough to concentrate on a boring textbook without having to look at a messy desk or room!!! Make sure you have the proper light when you study... it is amazing how many people strain their eyes and can't figure out why they are tired or don't want to study. Get study partners... these are people who are studying the same thing you are studying and are serious about it.... careful that a "study" session doesn't turn into a party... lol...

If you need to study for school the best way if you don't know how is maybe ask a teacher. They will help you understand how to study for a certain subject. Also try to get a quiet place no matter what subject you are studying for. :)

Motivate yourself. Promise yourself a nice gift if you study well for example a trip or a car and if you do not study make sure that you do not buy it for yourself.get your friends to motivate you again with some promises like the one above. it helps
Good luck

gather all your notes that you will need, make a schedule for big tests (study slowly ie 10 minutes a day, do not cram) and write things down as you read a textbook to study
i find that making q cards (a question on one side and the answer on the other) really helps you remember things, that is, if you really use them
